This page is a resource for students in Miss Kaser's 2009-2010 CP English II class periods: one, two, three, and eight. The topics for all journals [blogs] will be posted here. Students are required to keep their blogspot pages updated, appropriate, and on-task. This means writing a thoughtful reflection to the blog question posted daily by Miss Kaser.

Marie Little Soldier is a Indian girl who is young and is a babysitter for the Hayden family. She was in her young twenties. She always stayed with the family and worked 5 days a weeks. One morning Marie woke up and had a cold. She was coughing consistently and it was hard powerful cough. Gail went into the room and asked Marie if she needed anything. Marie said no I'm fine, Gail said if she came back and she wasn't any better shed call Frank. Marie did not want a doctor because she had herd what Frank had done to young Indian girls.
This is nothing close to what i want in my life. I mean i have small things i want during my life, but my main things i need or want are far more important. But in her case wanting this doctor to come or not could changer he life if he does to her what he has done to the other Indian women in their life.
Wes Hayden is the Husband of Gail, the Brother of Frank, and the Father of David. Wes wants nothing more than to be fair to his brother. He knows that his brother has done something wrong and should be treated like anyone else should in that situation, but Frank is his brother and Wes' father, Julian, had always told Wes Family First. Gail tells Wes that she wants him to go to jail and doesn't want to see him. Wes decides to put Frank in jail but does it very discreetly and not many people know about it.
If my brother had done something wrong then I would treat him like i would treat anyone else that had done something wrong. Even though i would feel bad for him, i could only do nothing because if he did the crime then he has to pay the consequences just like everyone else.
Westley Hayden is the father in the book. He is the husband of Gail Hayden and the father of David Hayden. After he learns the horrible things that his only brother does to the Native American women in town he has to take action since he is the sheriff. What he really wants is that he wasn't the sheriff so he wouldn't have to take legal action against his own brother. He just wishes his wife "Hadn't told the sheriff" as he puts it. He wants to forget about the whole thing, but it is his job to find justice in the town or is just wouldn't be right, he could even possibly loose his job. He knows he has to treat his brother just like any other criminal in town.
First, before taking things to seriously Wes decides to talk to a few people about the problem. Of course he first talks to Marie Little Soldier to make sure the things Frank has done are really true, and it turns out they are completely true. So Wes decides then to talk to Frank about what has happened and what he has done. Though he tried to talk to Julian, his father, he does not give any information about the situation. Though this is nothing close to anything I want in real life, it is true that I have wanted to get out of a sticky situation but my moral values and what i thought was really right got in the way, just like Wes Hayden.
Gail Hayden is the mother of David and her husband is Wes and her brother in law is Frank. Gail does not want to be anywhere near Frank and she does not want her family to be near him either. She wants him to be arrested by the sheriff, but the problem is the sheriff is her husband Wes and Frank is his brother. Wes does not want to arrest him because he is his brother and he says he will meet his punishment in the after life. Although Gail wants him to meet his punishment now brother or not.
If it was my brother in law or any family member that committed some kind of a crime I would arrest them too. The reason is because the law bends for no one and we all have to abide by it. It would cause family problems, but there are somethings that you would have to do.
Jay Hayden wants his son frank to be let go free of charge. Frank is his favorite son because he is a war hero. Jay loves Frank because he feels as if he will go somewhere in life. When Jay retired he handed over the job of being a sheriff to his son Wes. Wes is not as loved by his dad Jay, but he is used more than frank.
He is not able to have this happen because Wes is the sheriff now. Wes knows what is right and he also knows that his brother has hurt innocent women. No matter what Jay decided to do, he knew that Wes was going to investigate the case. Wes was different from his brother and father, he knew that he had to do the right thing. He was not going to let Frank go because they were family.
