In addition to providing a comic interlude, what seems to be the point of the scene with the cab driver, Horwitz? How do Holden and Horwitz differ, both in their conversation and as characters?
Provide textual support for your answer. Their conversation can be found on pages 81-83. [posted 11.12.09, 4 points]

I think Holden decided to have this conversation to boost his self esteem about how smart he is. Since he doesn't think he is smart at all he chose to talk to someone like Horowitz who he probably thought wasn't that smart. I also think Holden had this conversation just for the kicks. He just wanted to entertain himself with this cab driver. Holden and Horowitz differ in the conversation because Holden is calm and laid back when he is talking and Horowitz would get mad at everything that Holden would ask him that he thought was dumb. Just a very simple question about the ducks in the lake set Horowitz off into a rage. He had a very short temper.
